Boy’s Heart Is Mended When He Reunites With His Lost Dog

Earlier this Month, 11-year-old Leandro’s whole world felt as though it had shattered. Mili, his best friend’s beloved dog, had gone missing from their home in Brazil.

Leandro and his family looked everywhere for the pup, but she was nowhere to be found. But then everything changed.

A local fireman named Juninho Giugni was alerted to a dog found alone on the street across town. The pup was dressed cleanly and appeared to be lost.

It was Mili.

Giugni suspected the dog was a lost pet and decided to keep her safe until her owners could be found, unaware of how much that would mean to Leandro.

Giugni discovered Leandro and his family’s desperate search for a dog who matched the description of the pup he’d rescued after asking around. And he was soon able to track them down.

Giugni drove to the family’s house, where a broken-hearted young Leandro sat out front.

“He was crying tears of relief when we arrived,” Giugni told The Dodo. “It was a magical reunion.”

Leandro was overjoyed to have Mili back in his arms, safe and sound.

“We were thrilled,” Giugni said. “Leandro told us that we had saved the family.”

Giugni frequently comes to the aid of lost or distressed pets in his line of work, but in Mili’s case, he got to see a broken heart heal by putting things right.

“Every day, I rescue animals,” Giugni said. “This one was unique.”
