We have frequently discussed the efforts made by animal enthusiasts to assist their small furry friends in need here on Just Something. As animal enthusiasts and a newlywed couple from Ozark, Missouri, Sally Burky and her husband made every effort to assist pets in need even on their wedding day.

Like any other American bride-to-be, Sally was searching at Pinterest for wedding inspiration when she spotted the growing trend of bridesmaids carrying puppies rather than bouquets. She then considered how lovely it would be to have both puppies and elderly dogs at the wedding.

In order to boost the possibilities of some of their older dogs being adopted, she approached the local no-kill shelter Haven of the Ozarks, to whom she frequently gives, if they would be willing to share some of their senior dogs for the wedding. They agreed, and on Burky’s important day, the senior dogs accompanied the bridesmaids as they walked down the aisle. The couple also raised money for the shelter on the day of their wedding while collecting donations for the dogs that participated in the wedding but were later adopted.

Here are Sally Burky’s bridesmaids with the shelter dogs that were struggling to find a forever home. They were prepared to commit their entire being to a loving family, and Burky’s wedding provided them with the ideal opportunity to get attention and be adopted. The dogs walked down the aisle side by side with the bridesmaids, and some of them already found a new home. Burky and her husband also collected donations to the shelter.

The practice of having bridesmaids carry shelter puppies rather than bouquets must develop throughout time in order to aid in the adoption of more and more dogs.
