Loyal Dog Stands Outside Hospital For Days Waiting For His Dad

“Even if we take him home, he runs away and comes here, waiting for my father.”

For the past week, a dog named Boncuk has been Medical Park Trabzon Karadeniz Hospital’s most frequent visitor.

Every morning at 9 a.m., the little white dog appears and waits just outside the Turkish hospital’s sliding glass doors until evening.

The devoted dog first met hospital staff when he followed the ambulance that brought his dad, Cemal entürk, in for treatment.

Boncuk was taken home by entürk’s relatives, but the dog refuses to be separated from his dad for more than a few hours. “Even if we take him home, he runs away and comes here, waiting for my father,” entürk’s daughter, Aynur Egeli, told the Turkish news outlet DHA.

The dog never bothers anyone — he just waits patiently by the door, watching for signs of his owner.

Boncuk’s loyalty has won over the hospital staff, who make special trips outside to feed and visit with Boncuk, keeping his spirits up. The hospital even arranged for a reunion between entürk and his dog, allowing the dog to sit by entürk’s hospital bed and receive pets from his father.

When Boncuk saw his dad again, he became a completely different dog — smiling and wagging his tail for the first time in days.

“Boncuk has been with me for nine years,” Şentürk told DHA. “I miss him too. He’s already used to me. When I call him from the window, he relaxes a little more here.”

Thankfully, Şentürk was discharged from the hospital Wednesday, according to The Independent, and the little dog was overjoyed to finally have his dad back home for good.
