Nᴀᴋᴇᴅ Puppy Transforms Into The Fluffiest, Happiest Girl

Lightshine Canine is a non-profit organization that ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇs strays and unwanted dogs in Pine Ridge and other Indian Reservations in South Dakota. They came across a hairless stray pup and immediately took her in.

They couldn’t tell what age the dog was nor what breed because of its lack of fur. The volunteers estimate that she was around 2 years old at the time she was brought to the ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ.

The volunteers could see that her skin was raw and red. They’ve seen this situation enough to know that they knew she was sᴜꜰꜰᴇʀɪɴɢ from ᴄʜʀᴏɴɪᴄ ᴍᴀɴɢᴇ and other sᴋɪɴ ɪɴꜰᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴs — all ᴘᴀɪɴꜰᴜʟ for a dog.

She was also ᴡᴇᴀᴋ from starvation that she could barely move when they tried to feed her. She was called Tiny Dancer at first but when she was turned over to another dog ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ, she was renamed Mikita.

A foster for Happy Tails Ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ took in Mikita and began ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛɪɴɢ her mange. Within just a few weeks, Mikita was already starting to feel better and her fur started growing back. And that’s when ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇrs realised she wasn’t just any dog – she was a Husky!

Jessi Sova was looking for a friend for her ʀᴇsᴄᴜᴇ husky when she came across Mikita’s story on Facebook. She knew immediately that she had to meet her. “I got my application in right away to be an approved adopter and scheduled a meeting,” Sova said. “She was so tiny and just the sweetest little thing. My son had come with me to meet her, and we both fell in love.”

Jessi Sova decided to adopt her shortly after meeting her. Though Mikita still suffered from several health issues when she arrived in her new home, her family was more than happy to put in the time and effort to help her with her ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ.

Now Mikita is a completely different dog, and her family is stunned at how much her fur is growing! It’s definitely back with a ᴠᴇɴɢᴇᴀɴᴄᴇ!

It took a while for Mikita to get her stamina and endurance up but once she got it, she became unstoppable. It just goes to show that with enough patience and love, our canine friends bounce back from any ᴛʀᴀᴜᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ experience they might have had.
