Stork Flies Thousands Of Miles Each Year To Meet His Injured Soulmate Again.
Storks with incredible devotion and affection show the world that people still have a lot to learn from wild animals. Because of his love for his soulmate, this faithful bird has traveled more than 5,000 miles each spring for the past 20 years to reunite with an injured partner for the rest of his life. With his incredible devotion, a bird named Klepetan proves to everyone that love is the most powerful force in the world!
It all started in 1993 when Klepetan’s partner Malena was injured after being knocked down by a hunter. The bird was found lying in the mud by Stjepan Vokin, a teacher in the small Croatian town of Slavonski Brod. A friendly man repaired and took care of her wings. He even built her nest for her on his roof. It was there that Klepetan first noticed her 20 years ago. Since then, the pair baffles the world with their incredible love story.
As Klepetan winters in South Africa, his soul mate enjoys the warmth of the caretaker’s house. As the teacher explained, birds are already members of the family. But since 2001, locals and, more recently, a huge online community have been anxiously awaiting Klepetan’s return in early March. And for nearly 20 years, the faithful stork has never let them down.
Each season the couple bring up chicks and raises them together, after which the male teaches them how to fly and takes them to South Africa for the winter.
Locals are so excited about the famous lovebird that they are all waiting for Klepetan to return in early March. The oldest living stork ever recorded was 39 years old. However, locals hope that this special relationship will last much longer.
